Youth Programs
Education sets children up for a successful future. Yet low-income children in Paterson fall far behind their more affluent peers in test scores and other measures of academic achievement.
Oasis offers children a safe and structured educational environment every weekday. Elementary-age students are served a hot dinner and attend grade-level classes led by professional teachers. A youth social worker offers psychosocial support to participating students.

Oasis Teen Program
This program addresses teens’ academic, career, and socio-emotional issues. An onsite guidance counselor helps teens investigate career options and navigate the college application process.
Carl’s Kids Summer Camp
Oasis operates a traditional camp for 170 children every summer. This program offers impoverished children socialization, fitness, fun, and educational opportunities. Local teenagers are hired as summer camp counselors as part of an Oasis summer “First Jobs” initiative.
Rise and Shine Saturday Program
Oasis opens its doors on Saturdays, and our classrooms swell with youth and adults participating in academic enrichment programs otherwise unavailable to them. Local families participate in computer, English as a Second Language, math, and reading classes, among other class offerings.
Full-Service Community School Partnerships
Oasis is the lead agency helping transform Paterson Public Schools 2 and 16 into full-service community schools. Oasis has implemented a highly academic after-school program modeled after our incredibly successful After-School Academy.
2023 Youth Development Achievements:
- 254 children participated in daily after-school sessions focused on academics, social and emotional wellbeing, and life skills; sessions ran throughout the school year for 40 weeks.
